Breaking Through The Edge Of Uncertainty

Breaking Through The Edge Of Uncertainty

Breaking Through The Edge Of Uncertainty

Have you stepped out on the edge of uncertainty and taken a breath before you jumped lately.. or ever?

DMJ-300Dennis Merritt Jones, author, speaker, and Huffington Post blogger asked that question and it really makes you think, no? How many times do we really step out on the edge of uncertainty and take that leap? not very many times I would think. That edge is the “ledge” of the norm, the ledge of “The same old.” This ledge can be the wall that you never believed to be erected in front of you. This “ledge” can stop you from going after what you really want in life, it can keep you trapped inside the limiting belief cycle that goes something like this…. “Me? I am not meant to reach that height of greatness, that’s reserved for those super successful people.”

What is “that height of greatness” anyway? Have you ever sat down and thought about what success is to you? Not to your friend, spouse, or children but what success means to you. Once you really give this question some serious thought the next step is to go and stand out on the edge of uncertainty and take a deep breath. When you take that deep breath, look around. How is the view? Scary? Possibly it is! How do you think a bird feels?

robin-nestThink about it this way. After the egg hatches, the bird’s mother does everything for them and then they reach that critical moment where they too have to step out into the world on their own. The bird doesn’t need anyone to convince them that they can fly, they trust that their inherent knowing will guide them to the freedom of flight. They stand on the edge of their nest (The edge of uncertainty) They then fall over or if they take too long their mother gives them that motherly love push and forces them into the unknown. They go over the edge and flap their wings as the ground speeds towards them, trying their hardest to defy the laws of gravity, then before they know it they are flying.

That inherent or innate knowing is your edge that you must go over and travel to your dreams. Trust your knowing and step out on that edge go for your dreams and remember to take that breath before you go over and enjoy the journey. Will it hurt sometimes? Sure will, everyone who has succeeded has faced that dreaded word “failure”, however, this word is only six letters assembled into a form that people tend to use all to often in life. We should change our inner belief about that word to something like this.

“Failure is simply success with an unintended ending”

Some of the things that we believe to be correct to be truths, sometimes prove to be lies. As we pass from the morning of our lives into the afternoon of our lives, these beliefs we have in the morning become lies and the same goes for that word…..Failure!

Stepping out to the edge of uncertainty and having this idea, goal, situation, or dream not quite turn out the way you wish. Does not mean in any fashion that you have failed.
If you go for your dream, you are already a success. 99% of the population are stuck in their comfort zone of the “norm” where there is no edge, no uncertainty, no such 2074319525_81309da47bthoughts of reaching out to become something better, to reach for the moon and grab a few stars on the way. So that in essence already makes you a leader, a success regardless of the outcome. Keep moving toward your goals learning from every situation you face whether it brings amazing results or something you feel might be less. There is a learning experience in everything we do.

Then release yourself to the belief that the highest power in this universe wants you to succeed. He does this with nature and will do the same with you, by releasing to you everything you will need to succeed, you just have to be willing to see it and accept it as such. A gift of the present!

The past is history, the future a mystery. The gift is now, that’s why it’s called the present. Enjoy the edge and take flight like a baby bird and morph into an eagle. The Eagle is the only bird that doesn’t run for cover when there’s a storm. Eagles fly above the clouds during a storm where it’s still nice and sunny!

The New Edison

The New Edison

The 21st Century Edison

[dropcap_5]H[/dropcap_5]ere’s guessing that you have heard the statement that Thomas Edison said to a reporter about the amount of times he failed to create the incandescent light bulb. If not, here it is again for you.Thomas Edison

In preperation for this article and for most of the interviews I have done, more than five hours has been used to research these comments from Mr. Edison and the conclusion is this: Depending on where you go, you will see quotes that Mr. Edison had anywhere from 700 to 10,000 “Steps” as he calls them to creating the lightbulb. Most of the stories we were able to find did indicate that it was a New York Times reporter that asked Mr. Edison this question, or something similar to this (depending on where you look).

“Mr. Edison, how does it feel to fail 1000 times?” And Mr. Edison replied to the reporter

“I didn’t fail 1000 times, the lightbulb was a project with 1000 steps.” I know once again there are many other variations of this reply so this is just one source that I chose to take this from. None the less, we could sit and debate this for countless hours. Some even question the legitimacy of the actual event. Thomas Edison to this day holds more patents than any inventor and lets not forget what amazing inventions Mr. Edison did indeed provide the world that has made it a much better place.

Today we are going to discuss in our opinion our 21st Century Edison and we believe that he will become the next icon for people all over the world to help them overcome adversity the same way people have been using Edison’s quote for years. Sir James Dyson
Sir James Dyson: I love to watch some of the shows they air on CNBC, some are quite amazing and there is one in particular that I truly love it is called How I Made My Millions. The concepts in that show are amazing and they dig right into the heart of companies and share how everything comes together, (the ins and outs if you will) with either the originators or key executives of these companies and show us that in the end, they too are just human like us. The difference is they went for their dreams and didn’t let anyone stand in their way, this episodes was no different This particular show was a step up from the original layout, it was called:How I Made My Billions

Sir James Dyson was discussing the beginnings of Dyson, how and why started the company, and what he had to go through to deliver his first prototype to the world. His dream was to produce products that everyday people use but to improve them, to make them easier to use, to increase the user enjoyment rate if you will. Mr. Dyson started to create his prototypes of his first vacum in his garage (sound like a few other people that started these massive companies you see today?). During this interview, he said himself so this is no urban legend, this is concerete right from Sir James himself. He failed 5127 times before his prototype was even ready to show anyone. 5127 times, he said his friends thought he was completely insane, he went to dozens of banks, the Government, and venture capitalists to get funding, only to be turned down multiple times by them all.

[bq_right] With every failure of the prototypes, I learned something fascinating. Each of these “Failures” brought me closer to my goal.
Sir James Dyson
[/bq_right]

Sir James went to all the major vacum companies like Shop-Vac, Electrolux, etc. You guessed it, he was turned down by them all, they were saying that no one wanted to see the dirt that they just picked up but Sir James believed that the bag-less vacum was not only a more environmentally friendly but the vortex style bag-less suction was also much more powerful.
Sir James Dyson Blade-Less Fan

Since then the Dyson company has grown to exceed revenues of 1.5 Billion in 2011 and they are forecasting greater revenue in 2012. Not only had Sir James reinvented the vacum, Dyson is now making other home products that are taking the world by storm like his blade-less fan and multiple other products that are cleaner, safer, and even more stylish than any of his competitors.

The big takeaway is that if you have a dream, if you believe in yourself, and if you make a choice to overcome ALL adversities that come your way…….
Anything Is Truly Possible Sir James Dyson proves Edison’s theory of his steps to creating the incandescent light bulb, except he is alive today and produces priducts that we might not take for granted like we do lights. Mr. Dyson’s views, beliefs, and perseverance will carry just like Mr. Edison’s did.

Failure, The Other Form Of Success

Failure, The Other Form Of Success
Failure, The Other Form Of Success
If failure was the final point, where would our world as we know it be? If failure was final, what do you think the great inventions that changed the word would look like? If there was not a single part of failure to learn from, what would things like cars, the space shuttle, vacuums, t.v’s, or tablets look like? Would they even exist?Where would they be? Not in our hands or available for us to use as we know of them today, that is certain!

Challenge Yourself

Failure is a part of life, finding the learning lesson in this word is really what has created everything around you. So in essence, failure is a really good thing. It allows us to see where we went “wrong” and correct it. Failure is simply success with an unintended ending. It is the emotions and story that we associate with this “F” word that creates our thoughts, feelings, and actions about it.

The story is the key, the story is the gold nugget of every “failure.” When experience one of these learning moments, what story do you associate with it? Is it a story of blame? Is it a story of defeat? Or is it a story of learning? A story of faith? A story of joy to have had the pleasure of this educational moment?

Granted, sometimes when we hit these educational times, finding that educational moment is not always the easiest thing to do. Believe it or not, it can serve as the greatest breakthrough you have ever experienced. Change your story, change your life in every way.

Fear Does Have Boundaries

Fear Does Have Boundaries
Fear Does Have Boundaries
Fear is a paralyzing emotion, there is no doubting or denying that. If you have a fear/phobia to say Spiders, dogs, or even enclosed spaces. The paralyzing feeling that takes over you as these phobias/fears close in on you is like nothing you would wish on your worst enemy.

The fear of success and the fear of failure have the same paralyzing effect for your life goals. The difference is that they just don’t feel anything like the fear you may have for spiders, dogs, or enclosed spaces but the effect of not facing and conquering these fears is far greater.

Fear Pic

Have you ever made excuses about going after your big goal, dream, or aspiration? Have you ever created obstacles or missed important deadlines? Have you ever had opportunities that you downgraded or dismissed but deep inside you knew they would have been beneficial to you in reaching your goals?

If you answered yes to any of those questions, you quite possibly might have a fear of either failure, or success. These fears can sabotage you in more ways than you can imagine. The fear of both success and failure are common things, they are experienced by millions of people all of the globe.

Either of these fears can derail your dreams in a heart beat, you will just never realize it until you don’t accomplish your goals. These fears might not be as paralyzing in the moment like the fear of heights but they are far more crippling than any fear you will face. Why? Well they can ruin your dreams and cause you to live a life you don’t want to live, a life that’s not in line with your purpose.

Tackle these two fears head on, challenge yourself to overcome them and breakthrough into the freedom you deserve. Break these boundaries and create a new paradigm, a creative, powerful, success orientated, and limitless paradigm. Create the paradigm you deserve. Ask yourself the questions we shared an be honest with yourself when you answer. If you are saying yes to any of them, it is time to say no! Step outside your cocoon of comfort and truly start to make a dynamic shift in your life.

Failure To Launch

Failure To Launch
Failure To Launch
Failure to launch your dream life can be a crushing feeling. In his book Fail Up, Tavis Smiley shared a statement that had an extremely impactful emotional attachment. He said ” success seems to be largely a matter of hanging on after others have let go.” What a dynamic statement.

Stopping three feet from gold is so common today. The failure to launch your life can be as fine as a razors edge. Hanging onto your dreams and not letting them fall to the waste side can be a minor adjustment in your thoughts which control your feelings, which in turn create your actions, which then create your results right?

Faulure To Launch

Failure is not the end all of you. Failure means one thing and one thing only. You never found that growth lesson It’s that simple. If you never give up, meaning if you take the growth moment from every “failure” you will find that this word “failure” is just another word in your vocabulary that has this negative belief around it.

The problem with this word is the meanings you have associated with it. The meanings or beliefs about what it means to face it head on and “lose”.

Failure is what you make it, it is what you believe it is. In her book Conquer Fear, Lisa Jimenez shares this profound statement that will make you change these thoughts.

“Change your beliefs-and you change your behaviors, change your behaviors-change your results, change your results-change your life.”

Digest that statement for a while and you will should come to the conclusion that this word failure is just what we believe it is, nothing more. Change your belief about failure and your failure will change as well. Change into what? Great question! What do you believe it will change into?

The Challenge That Comes With Adversity

The Challenge That Comes With Adversity
The Challenge That Comes With Adversity
When we face adversities of major magnitude, our ability to control our beliefs about the adversity can help in your challenge. Our beliefs are the guiding factors in all adversities.

What would you say if we suggested that every adversity you have faced to date every challenge you have experienced, you manifested in your life? If you are like most, the first reply is “NO I haven’t.” Well in fact you have.

Napoleon Hill said “With every adversity is planted the seed of an equal or greater benefit.” Now he came to this conclusion after over 20 years of researching the most successful people of his time. The likes of Edison, Ford, and Wrigley. Which makes it just a little hard to try to deny his findings doesn’t it?

Josh HInds It's Your Life LIVE BIG Book Cover

Well here is where the internal challenge lies. How do we see the gold nugget inside every adversity? This is definitely a tough thing to do, but, there is hope. Here are a few suggestions you can use to start to see the seed, that beautiful gold nugget inside your adversity.

 1. Stop: Step out of the present situation. You need to get out of the heat of the moment.
 2. Ask yourself some possibility questions. These are questions that enable you to think. I mean critically think about how you can overcome your adversity, not be stopped by it.
 3. Take ownership of your challenge. Taking ownership is a key to climbing this seemingly insurmountable wall.

These three suggestions can turn any challenge into unlimited possibilities for growth.

Are You Shy

Are You Shy

“Many great ideas have been lost because the people who had them could not stand being laughed at.” – Author Unknown

Psychologist Jonathan Creek of Wellesley College says that “situational shyness, such as feeling shy around a new co-worker or person of the opposite sex to whom we’re attracted to, can help to facilitate cooperative living; it inhibits behaviors that are socially unacceptable.” In this case, shyness can be a good thing; it prevents us from making fools of ourselves, or from hurting others’ feelings.

Are you afraid to take a risk? Perhaps you always anticipate the worst and fearing the outcome; you avoid the pain by avoiding the situation altogether. It could be simply fear of the unknown. Sometimes a single bad experience can grow into a habit as you continue to choose to flee or avoid any situation in which you feel uncertain.

The shy person can actually handicap themselves with negative thoughts and wind up using their shyness as a crutch and an excuse for not pursuing more social occasions, “I can’t handle these kinds of situations because I’m so shy.” Of course the more they tell themselves things like this, the harder it becomes to socialize, make friends, and establish relationships, both personal and professional. It becomes a self-defeating behavior.

Rather than dwell on the negative part of being shy, try seeing yourself in a more positive way. Shy people are less likely to gossip or brag; they are generally not overbearing or pushy, and definitely not aggressive or antagonistic. Once the shy person makes a friend, they are very loyal and dependable. They are more discreet than the more outgoing kind of personality. They tend to be much less controlling in most circumstances, and very willing to let others do what they want.

Let’s face it, some people are born talkers who can get along with just about anyone and everyone, and some people are not. More evidence is showing shyness to be an inborn trait or distinguishing quality. Shy people have difficulty making conversation and become very nervous when they feel they have to be congenial with strangers; they simply do not know what to say.

So, ask yourself these questions:

• Does the thought of meeting new people make you uneasy?

• Do you find it a struggle to come up with something to say to new acquaintances?

• Do you sometimes become tongue-tied around strangers?

• Do you avoid social gatherings where you’re certain to get left on your own?

• Do you have trouble speaking in large groups?

• Do you have trouble making eye contact when meeting someone new?

• Do you find it difficult to make new friends?

• Does talking to a member of the opposite sex make you nervous?

• Is dating nerve wracking to you?

• Are you at a loss for a retort when someone makes a wisecrack at your expense?

• When people take advantage of you, do you find it difficult to be assertive with them?

• Do you have trouble saying no to people?

• Do you fail to take compliments graciously?

Do you think you’re shy?

The Power Of Habit

The Power Of Habit

The Power Of Habit And it’s Effects On Us

How Much Of A Role Does Habit Play In Our Lives

An interesting question raised to the forefront of my mind last week when something very interesting happened. As I stood outside my house, the day was like any other really, except a mini van drove by and as it stopped, an old neighbour that have moved some two weeks earlier rolled down his window.

Of course I said the usual “Hello” thinking that it was really nice of him to drive by and say hi! But did he? NO he actually stopped to laugh with me about this being the 10th time he had drove by his old house simply out of habit. He had been driving the same route to and from work for so many years he had programmed his mind to simply go on auto pilot, to drive to that house. Funny isn’t it? Funny how we can input something so far into our subconscious that even the excitement of owning a new house does not overpower the habit that we have ingrained. Has this ever happened to you? Now of course it might be a different situation all together.

How Habits Control Us Image

I mean we have all been there right? We’ve all been behind the wheel of our car driving somewhere, myself it used to happen all the time on the way to and from work. I had about an hour and a quarter driver to and from work everyday. Most days I would all of a sudden pull into the office parking lot and I would stop and think… How Did I Get Here? never really giving any thought to the lights, speed, traffic, or pretty much anything else. I just seemed to be on Auto Pilot. So if we do it with these pretty crucial things like hhhmmm, let me think DRIVING YOUR VEHICLE

It brings up some BIG question does it not? Like:

 • What beliefs about adversity are we making into habits?
 • What are we driving into our subconscious mind that is hindering our growth, our life, or our family?
 • What negative thoughts are we drilling into the abyss of “I can’t do that”

These questions have to be addressed, could they be what is holding you back from really going after what you want? Are they key factors in the adversity that always seems to hit you? These questions can spawn so many others that the list will just keep going on and no and on.

 • So what’s the solution?
 • What do we need to do first to start down the road to achieving OUR goals?
 • How do we overcome these internal forces that always seem to control our thoughts and feed us with the:

“I can’t do that because I don’t have the skill, time, finances, health, youth, or knowledge!”

Here ar a few key steps you can start walking today that will bring you to a brighter tomorrow.

 1. Understand that these thoughts do exist and when they come out during those “Little Conversations” you have with yourself. Create a trigger to eliminate them. I use “Switch” I simply yell …SWITCH…. in my mind to clear it. It works like a charm for me.
 2. Create a daily routine where you add new and vibrant ideas into your mind about what you are truly capable of. Start a journal of these amazing things, I personall do one in the morning and before I go to bed. I once heard from Jack Canfield that writing these wonderful thoughts and feelings out before you go to bed allows the “Interweb” (Your internal internet service) to work on them as you sleep. SO you mind has already started to work on the solutions, people, and situations to help you solve your adversity.
 3. And Finally, take ACTION I you want to ease the negative thoughts that come into your mind that have been place dthere through habit or any other way for that matter. YOU,/strong> and only you have the ability to beat it.

What turns obstacles that seem like mountains into mole hills?

[genericbox]

Could it be Passion, Belief, Faith, Courage, Or Understanding?

Sure it can, but how many of us truly believe that these drives, feelings, and inner thoughts can take us to that promised land? This is a question that many of us think about indirectly. You see when you think thoughts of disbelief, lack, or even failure…(Sorry had to use that word) You are telling yourself that you have no faith, belief, and passion in yourself.

First off, we have all and we all still have these feelings so the statement is not to say that if these thoughts come to mind you are a failure, no not at all. The people who believe these silly self thoughts are the ones that will not get where they truly want to go. These are the people that will allow these thoughts to remain in their head that they are not worthy enough, educated enough, or even just believe

There is no way I could do that, I have no credentials or means to get that going.

When Pig Fly Picture

I believe you could also use the old saying

“When Pigs Fly”

Could you not?

But that does this do to our goals, aspirations, and dreams? It crushes them right? Well how do we turn these mountains of fear, disbelief, and lack in to mole hills that you can roll over without a single thought. I believe that it is as simple as Passion, belief in thyself, and understanding that you really can do what you really want to do in life. Now once again and I have said this MANY times. Simple and easy are not the same thing.

Any one who tells you something like this is easy, well….They have simply never done it before. Plain and “simple”

So lets tale making mountains into mole hills for a while shall we? Mountains represents that seemingly insurmountable wall that fear of failure, that lack, that “what will my friends think” mentality. This mentality is a true fear for most, but with belief and we mean unwavering belief, that mountain starts loosing it’s height.

All the experts that we have spoke to, interviewed, and recorded have similar thoughts on this one subject, it is the the ingrained “I can’t that has been programmed into our sub conscious mind that take us down this path of disbelief. Let me ask you this, as a baby, or even look at any baby around you. Do you think that they believe that they can’t walk when they first fall down? DO they stop after the first time they “fail” to walk? Or course not, they have people all around them telling them that they can do it, and they do.

This is one of the biggest issues we face as adults. Having ourselves surrounded with people that Truly believe in us. Now we say truly because there are many factors here to consider. One is that you have friends and family members right now that say they believe in you but inside they don’t want anything to change, they are happy with YOU right where you are.

How do we get back to the environment that we had as a baby? The environment where everyone you knew believed in you unconditionally? That my friends is the question of the century!

Here is something to REALLY consider

1) Believe in yourself.

2) Understand that your friends will not fully believe in you the way that you think they should.

3) Be prepared the best you can for what ever venture you start out on.

4) STOP listening to the disbelievers…This includes your inner disbelieving self by the way

5) And Your PASSION has to be there. You have to be passionate about what you are going after or at the first sign of trouble, you will abandon your vision and retreat back to the thoughts of…..

Well I never really could have done that anyway, what was I thinking? Man am I ever glad I didn’t tell anon about it, they would be laughing at me now wouldn’t they?

Joy to YOU!

Failure Or So It Seems

Failure Or So It Seems

Failure Or So It Seems: What do you believe?

Failure (Or so it seems)

Today’s blog post is near and dear to my heart. It is all (I guess the title gave it away) about failure…. Or at least what seems to be failure at the time. Before we begin, I have a question to ask you.

Do you believe in failure?

I believe failure is a word that was created to use when we don’t accomplish a task or goal. Let me share an example wit you.

Here we are, we have set a goal for ourselves and said that we will have it done in three months, we gave ourselves 90 days to pull it off. So we start our journey, the 60 day mark goes by and we are close but not there yet. Now we are approaching thew 90 day mark and we feel that we’re not that far past the 60 day mark when it comes to the progress we’ve made.

What do we do?

We force the goal to manifest, don’t we? Of course we all do. Now we hit the 90 day mark where we wanted to accomplish our goal and we didn’t do it, we missed our timeline. That means we’ve failed!

But did we?

Failure is such a final and conclusive word don’t you think? I mean it’s the final point to any sentence, there is not buts after that word because it’s final in everyone’s mind, however, this shouldn’t be!

The word failure should be at the minimum, the beginning of the education cycle. When you think you have failed at anything, make it the beginning of educating yourself on something new and exciting. Make it the stepping stone to greatness, achievement, and success.

After we get up from temporary defeat ang dust ourselves off, a new found spark is ignited and a new burning desire is internally created that will propel us faster than we could have ever imagined toward our goal. So if time is the factor in our example above, instead of using the F word. Why not just extend the time frame that you’ve set for yourself?

I used to believe in failure, I have not accomplished things in my life that I thought I wanted to accomplish but when you sit back and really look at the F word. It really can’t be used for any goal, accomplishment, or desire. Now I know that is a very bold statement but it is true, let me explain.

We will use Thomas Edison to drive this example home. Now I know you’ve all heard the stories about Thomas Edison. You know, the famous quote about the amount of times he failed at creating the incandescent light bulb.

We have researched the number of times he failed for this article and have found countless people that say between 500 to 10,000 times that he failed. The amount of times in not as important as his answer. So lets just arbitrarily use 1000 times for this example!

Thomas Edison said

I did not fail 1000 times, I successfully discovered 1000 ways NOT to make a lightbulb

Now that is the answer we all need to keep at the forefront of our minds. The F word is not permanent unless YOU allow it to be.

When you are hit with temporary defeat, simply stand back for a moment and look at your situation from another angle. Give yourself a little more time, re-focus, and even restructure the short term, mid term, and long term goals that will get you to the success you are reaching for.

If you want a new outlook on life, start with the F-word. If you seem to meet it, look into the issue or cause and learn from it. If you have learned something can you really consider it a failure?

If you are learning, you are growing! Don’t ever forget that!
