Leaving Behind A Legacy That Conquers Adversity Long After You Are Gone

A dear friend of mine Josh Hinds author of It’s Your Life Live BIG sent out an email to his subscribers from getmotivation.com with a question that spawned some great thoughts and ideas of what’s to come in our digital age. Here is Josh’s email. The subject line was:

What are you putting in your mind?

Readers are leaders. I’ve heard that countless times. I think there’s truth in it. Yet, so few people make this truth work for them.

Hopefully that’s not the case for you.

I became a student of personal development, when at 15 I read my first book by Zig Ziglar. The book was called, Over the Top. The ideas in that book have continued to make a huge impact on my life over the years. I bet you have at josh-hinds-mp3least one book that’s had a similar impact on your life, right? If so, I’d like to hear what book (or books) has had an impact on you. I would also love to hear what stood out about it. I’m always looking for my next great read 🙂

Years ago, when I first read that book by Zig, I heard one quote that I still try to live my life around. Perhaps you’ve heard it? Here it is:

“You can have everything in life you want if you’ll only help enough other people get what they want.” – Zig Ziglar

Again, I’d love to have you share your favorite “inspirational or motivational” book with me. Just reply back and let me know.

My reply back to him was Norman Vincent Peal’s phenomenal best seller The Power Of Positive Thinking. Now this chain of emails between Josh and I started a chain of thoughts that inspired this post. One of my replies back to Josh was to think about his book and in 50 to 75 even 100 years down the road, there will be someone sending out an email (or mental telegraph) most likely asking a very similar or event he same question.

power-of-positive-sizedThe answer? Simple, the information you share today, wether it be on your blog, podcast, or workshop will have lasting affects that at this point you might not even fathom the amount of people your message will help.

Today’s information highway allows anyone (positive or negative) to share their message and help people all over the world for an infinite amount of time. This idea then spawns yet another thought. When you post a Facebook comment, share a blog, record a podcast, or even write a letter to relative supporting them on a venture or maybe an adversity they are facing. Do you ever give any thought as to the ripple effect this information might have? The people it will help when you are sleeping? The amount of people that will experience that aha moment because of a few letters you strung into words that then got strung into a sentence?

It is simply remarkable how today we (meaning everyone on the planet) now have the ability to use our words of encouragement, joy, and reflection to not only find the gold nugget in EVERY adversity but to share that eye opening information with the world and help people on the other side of the globe that have a completely different operating system than we do.

We encourage you to spread your message or courage, belief, and success with as many people as you can. Write or record something today that will change the lives of people tomorrow and from here on out. If you stop, sit down in a quiet spot and really think. You will find a time in your life where you displayed a remarkable amount of courage and conquered some adversity. They way you conquered your adversity can and will help someone somewhere that is going through the same thing.

Share your experiences with the masses and a century from now, they will be talking about you as well.
