Are You Haivng Rainy Days Or Sunny Days – Overcome Adversity, Conquer Fear, And Breakthrough Challenges By Focusing On Sunny Days

We all have our “good” days and our “bad” days, that’s not for debate in this article. The debate is how our internal filters actually decide what truly can be defined as a good or bad day. As the saying goes: when life gives you lemons, make lemon aid. Well that to can be a difficult task in of it’s own.

Rainy-day-sunny-daySo how do we take adversities or challenges we face in life and change then into a positive trajectory moment that can take us further in our educational and personal growth?

We believe that to enable yourself to step out of the moment and find the trajectory moment in every adversity,we first need to understand why we see these challenges and adversities the way we do. Second, we need to be willing to change some of your most cherished beliefs about every situation. Why do we say most cherished beliefs Instead or habits or thought processes? For starters, our beliefs is the first and foremost driving factor to all of our views. If you change your belief about anything, the view you have if it I turn changes as well.

When anyone sets out to change their rainy days into sunny ones, there are parts of the body, mind, and even spirit that are thrown for a pretty big loop so be prepared. Your feelings will be truly challenged and the main reason is that it will feel completely foreign compared to your old paradigm. One point to remember and this usually happens when you have some quiet time to yourself, is that your negative thoughts will come and visit you, they will start to play on your conscious mind and share things like:

 • You can’t do this?
 • Rainy days into sunny days.. Come one.. What are you thinking?
 • Face it, you are done my friend!
 • You have no where to turn, you have no where to go!

We can go on and on, what our mind will say is not the point. The point is that it will start talking and when it does, how are you going to respond? Are you going to allow these rainy day ideas to control how you serve? How you create? How you act? How you love? How you live?

We were created to accomplish remarkable tasks and overcome massive adversity. The biggest challenge you are going to face in your life it the challenge of thoughts. It is within that six to eight inches (depending on how large your head is) that is going to be your biggest ally or greatest enemy. The choice is yours!

In the end of all of this, it boils down to choice. Do you choose to allow your rainy day thoughts to control your destiny? Or are you going to control your rainy day thoughts and take control of your greatness?

Choose to take control! So how can you go about eliminating these rainy day thoughts? Well you never really get rid of them but through practice and effort, they will decrease. Here are a few techniques you can use to help these negative thoughts dissipate for you.

 • Make a list of all of your achievements and when you have a rainy day thought read them aloud
 • post images, little sayings, or even snippets of your list of achievements in the places you usually have these rainy day thoughts.
 • Go get yourself some 3×5 cards and write these achievements down on them, carry them with you and every time you get a chance read them.
 • Get an accountability partner you can share these achievements with who will share them with you during those rainy day moments.

There are of course so many other ideas that you can implement in a split second. Now one thing to take away is that you must be persistent with your inner voice. Your inner negative voice is very persistent, so you must be even more persistent.

Make the choice! Choose Greatness!

Are You A Cookie Thief? What’s Your Perspective?

Are You A Cookie Thief? What’s Your Perspective?

I was driving to a meeting the other day listening to Dr. Wayne Dyer. As with you I bet, there is always a great inspirational or motivational mp3, cd, Inspiration_Your_Ultimate_Calling_Dr_Wayne_Dyer_abridged_compact_discs_Tor podcast playing in my car. As the late GREAT Zig Ziglar used to say “When you are on the road listening to inspirational, life changing material it is called automobile university”.

In continuing my education, Dr. Dyer shared a poem that Valerie Cox wrote called The Cookie Thief. This poem was so good that I had to pull over, pull out my laptop, find the poem online and write this blog. (You have gotta love technology!!!)

Here is the poem

[genericbox]

“A woman was waiting at an airport one night,
With several long hours before her flight.
She hunted for a book in the airport shops.
Bought a bag of cookies and found a place to drop.
She was engrossed in her book but happened to see,
That the man sitting beside her, as bold as could be.
Grabbed a cookie or two from the bag in between,
Which she tried to ignore to avoid a scene.
So she munched the cookies and watched the clock,
As the gutsy cookie thief diminished her stock.
She was getting more irritated as the minutes ticked by,
Thinking, “If I wasn’t so nice, I would blacken his eye.”
With each cookie she took, he took one too,
When only one was left, she wondered what he would do.
With a smile on his face, and a nervous laugh,
He took the last cookie and broke it in half.
He offered her half, as he ate the other,
She snatched it from him and thought… oooh,
brother. This guy has some nerve and he’s also rude,
Why he didn’t even show any gratitude!
She had never known when she had been so galled,
And sighed with relief when her flight was called.
She gathered her belongings and headed to the gate,
Refusing to look back at the thieving ingrate.
She boarded the plane, and sank in her seat,
Then she sought her book, which was almost complete.
As she reached in her baggage, she gasped with surprise,
There was her bag of cookies, in front of her eyes.
If mine are here, she moaned in despair,
The others were his, and he tried to share.
Too late to apologize, she realized with grief,
That she was the rude one, the ingrate, the thief.”

[/genericbox]

CookieThiefSo the big question we can take out of this poem is. Are you the cookie thief? Does your perception of filters if you will block your vision of what’s truly going on? There is also something else playing out here, lets take a step back and think about this turn of events from the other persons end. What would you do if your intuition at the same time as your cookies were being depleted was saying “I think she is actually getting angry because I am eating my own cookies”. As I sit here and type I can feel my insides kind of crunching up, yet I am giggling at the same time. The person who’s cookies were being eaten is a definite We-Go driven person not an Ego driven person. He’s a Go-Giver not a Go-Taker.

So lets really start to look at every situation from as many angles as you can. Is what you see as happening to you, in truth, the only way to see the situation?

Leaving Behind A Legacy That Conquers Adversity Long After You Are Gone

A dear friend of mine Josh Hinds author of It’s Your Life Live BIG sent out an email to his subscribers from getmotivation.com with a question that spawned some great thoughts and ideas of what’s to come in our digital age. Here is Josh’s email. The subject line was:

What are you putting in your mind?

[genericbox color=””]

Readers are leaders. I’ve heard that countless times. I think there’s truth in it. Yet, so few people make this truth work for them.

Hopefully that’s not the case for you.

I became a student of personal development, when at 15 I read my first book by Zig Ziglar. The book was called, Over the Top. The ideas in that book have continued to make a huge impact on my life over the years. I bet you have at josh-hinds-mp3least one book that’s had a similar impact on your life, right? If so, I’d like to hear what book (or books) has had an impact on you. I would also love to hear what stood out about it. I’m always looking for my next great read 🙂

Years ago, when I first read that book by Zig, I heard one quote that I still try to live my life around. Perhaps you’ve heard it? Here it is:

“You can have everything in life you want if you’ll only help enough other people get what they want.” – Zig Ziglar

Again, I’d love to have you share your favorite “inspirational or motivational” book with me. Just reply back and let me know.

It’s your life, LIVE BIGlive-big-book-cover copy Josh Hinds

My reply back to him was Norman Vincent Peal’s phenomenal best seller The Power Of Positive Thinking. Now this chain of emails between Josh and I started a chain of thoughts that inspired this post. One of my replies back to Josh was to think about his book and in 50 to 75 even 100 years down the road, there will be someone sending out an email (or mental telegraph) most likely asking a very similar or event he same question.

power-of-positive-sizedThe answer? Simple, the information you share today, wether it be on your blog, podcast, or workshop will have lasting affects that at this point you might not even fathom the amount of people your message will help.

Today’s information highway allows anyone (positive or negative) to share their message and help people all over the world for an infinite amount of time. This idea then spawns yet another thought. When you post a Facebook comment, share a blog, record a podcast, or even write a letter to relative supporting them on a venture or maybe an adversity they are facing. Do you ever give any thought as to the ripple effect this information might have? The people it will help when you are sleeping? The amount of people that will experience that aha moment because of a few letters you strung into words that then got strung into a sentence?

It is simply remarkable how today we (meaning everyone on the planet) now have the ability to use our words of encouragement, joy, and reflection to not only find the gold nugget in EVERY adversity but to share that eye opening information with the world and help people on the other side of the globe that have a completely different operating system than we do.

We encourage you to spread your message or courage, belief, and success with as many people as you can. Write or record something today that will change the lives of people tomorrow and from here on out. If you stop, sit down in a quiet spot and really think. You will find a time in your life where you displayed a remarkable amount of courage and conquered some adversity. They way you conquered your adversity can and will help someone somewhere that is going through the same thing.

Share your experiences with the masses and a century from now, they will be talking about you as well.

When Do OUR Words Become Belief

We hear it everywhere…Think positive, keep thinking about you dream, believe in what you are capable of, and belief is the gateway to success.

These statements sure do have a positive impact, i mean we have all left that seminar with high ambition, just juiced with excitement to reach fro our greatness, and even started to take immediate and massive action. When do those words we tell ourselves about what we are capable of start to become a belief?

During a recent interview with Ian Humphrey, this question arose and the answer was one that took quite a bit of thought. Here is a link to Ian’s video about when the words we say to ourselves actually become a belief. Click Here To Watch
words When we are taking new limitless words and applying them to our old paradigms, this process of having them become beliefs is somewhat of a fictitious thing isn’t it? Breaking these long term old paradigms are tough to do.. Did you see the instant connection there? Did you read into that word? Let’s share it again Long Term Old Paradigms.

These paradigms didn’t just appear in your mind overnight, they took a long time to implant themselves through your beliefs, friends, family, and other outside environmental circumstances / situations. So why do we think this would change overnight? Is it because we have become an instant gratification society? Maybe we never really give any tough as to how long it has actually taken to become our belief.

Eiher way, this is what we face. So how do we change these old limiting beliefs into new ones? When do these new found thoughts turn from just thoughts to our new paradigms of possibility? My belief is that this answer hase two ways of looking at it.

 • One is that we need to understand, we have taken time to allow these limiting beliefs into our minds, so in turn we will need to allow time to replace this old belief with new limitless thoughts.
 • Two is that these new thoughts are going to be challenged by your biggest opponent… Your Mind! this opponent is stronger that any superhero you have ever met, will ever meet, or that Hollywood will ever be able to created.

Our mind challenges change, we all know this. Maybe you have tried to meditate before and all of a sudden as you are trying to keep your mind clear, thoughts start to enter and if you allow your mind to play the game it LOVES to play you will see that you shift from one weir thought to another within seconds and this continues until you stop and “think” what the heck was that all about?

Choice is the biggest and most powerful solution to this issue. Make a choice, and unwavering choice to only allow these limitless thoughts into your mind and you will change your beliefs about yourself and what you are capable of.

When do they turn into beliefs. I believe the ultimate answer to be… When you choose for them to become your new beliefs. Will this stop your “Negative Nancy” (sorry to anyone named Nancy!) from popping up? Nope not at first but you will be surprised at the power a true and committed decision can make.

Joy To You In Every Precious Moment.

Breaking Through The Edge Of Uncertainty

Breaking Through The Edge Of Uncertainty

Breaking Through The Edge Of Uncertainty

Have you stepped out on the edge of uncertainty and taken a breath before you jumped lately.. or ever?

DMJ-300Dennis Merritt Jones, author, speaker, and Huffington Post blogger asked that question and it really makes you think, no? How many times do we really step out on the edge of uncertainty and take that leap? not very many times I would think. That edge is the “ledge” of the norm, the ledge of “The same old.” This ledge can be the wall that you never believed to be erected in front of you. This “ledge” can stop you from going after what you really want in life, it can keep you trapped inside the limiting belief cycle that goes something like this…. “Me? I am not meant to reach that height of greatness, that’s reserved for those super successful people.”

What is “that height of greatness” anyway? Have you ever sat down and thought about what success is to you? Not to your friend, spouse, or children but what success means to you. Once you really give this question some serious thought the next step is to go and stand out on the edge of uncertainty and take a deep breath. When you take that deep breath, look around. How is the view? Scary? Possibly it is! How do you think a bird feels?

robin-nestThink about it this way. After the egg hatches, the bird’s mother does everything for them and then they reach that critical moment where they too have to step out into the world on their own. The bird doesn’t need anyone to convince them that they can fly, they trust that their inherent knowing will guide them to the freedom of flight. They stand on the edge of their nest (The edge of uncertainty) They then fall over or if they take too long their mother gives them that motherly love push and forces them into the unknown. They go over the edge and flap their wings as the ground speeds towards them, trying their hardest to defy the laws of gravity, then before they know it they are flying.

That inherent or innate knowing is your edge that you must go over and travel to your dreams. Trust your knowing and step out on that edge go for your dreams and remember to take that breath before you go over and enjoy the journey. Will it hurt sometimes? Sure will, everyone who has succeeded has faced that dreaded word “failure”, however, this word is only six letters assembled into a form that people tend to use all to often in life. We should change our inner belief about that word to something like this.

“Failure is simply success with an unintended ending”

Some of the things that we believe to be correct to be truths, sometimes prove to be lies. As we pass from the morning of our lives into the afternoon of our lives, these beliefs we have in the morning become lies and the same goes for that word…..Failure!

Stepping out to the edge of uncertainty and having this idea, goal, situation, or dream not quite turn out the way you wish. Does not mean in any fashion that you have failed.
If you go for your dream, you are already a success. 99% of the population are stuck in their comfort zone of the “norm” where there is no edge, no uncertainty, no such 2074319525_81309da47bthoughts of reaching out to become something better, to reach for the moon and grab a few stars on the way. So that in essence already makes you a leader, a success regardless of the outcome. Keep moving toward your goals learning from every situation you face whether it brings amazing results or something you feel might be less. There is a learning experience in everything we do.

Then release yourself to the belief that the highest power in this universe wants you to succeed. He does this with nature and will do the same with you, by releasing to you everything you will need to succeed, you just have to be willing to see it and accept it as such. A gift of the present!

The past is history, the future a mystery. The gift is now, that’s why it’s called the present. Enjoy the edge and take flight like a baby bird and morph into an eagle. The Eagle is the only bird that doesn’t run for cover when there’s a storm. Eagles fly above the clouds during a storm where it’s still nice and sunny!

Your Challenge Is Your Legacy

Your Challenge Is Your Legacy
Your Challenge Is Your Legacy
We all want to leave a legacy when we go, don’t we? Either for our children or the population in general. Is the legacy that someone leaves behind nothing more than the story associated with every challenge they faced? This question deserves looking into.

If you look at the legacy of Henry Ford for example. Is his legacy based on the challenge of making the V8 engine work or is it based on building cars? It can go either way right? Yes he did introduce us to this new way of traveling but would his legacy have been so great if he gave up on the challenge of building that ole V8? This engine is just one of the legacy lessons Henry Ford left behind right? Possibly, that also depends on your perception. Maybe Mr. Ford’s biggest legacy was the millions of single style cars he built with the Model A. Maybe it was his determination to be the best. Go ahead and research other great inspirational leaders like Winston Churchill for example.

Fear Pic

Was Mr. Churchill’s legacy the inspiration he left behind from overcoming a particular challenge he faced? Maybe his legacy to you is the way he overcame multiple challenges. In fact with Mr. Churchill is he faced many, many adversities that would have sent most into hiding for the rest of their lives. However, Mr. Churchill prevailed over all of them and that made him the great person he still is by living through his legacy you her about today and will hear about once again tomorrow.

You can find similar stories in all of our leader’s legacies and the leaders of today that are creating their legacies. All of them overcome challenge to bring you these breakthroughs and the benefits you get to take on and enjoy.

Embrace the challenge, leave a legacy for others to learn from. Pay it forward!

Fear Does Have Boundaries

Fear Does Have Boundaries
Fear Does Have Boundaries
Fear is a paralyzing emotion, there is no doubting or denying that. If you have a fear/phobia to say Spiders, dogs, or even enclosed spaces. The paralyzing feeling that takes over you as these phobias/fears close in on you is like nothing you would wish on your worst enemy.

The fear of success and the fear of failure have the same paralyzing effect for your life goals. The difference is that they just don’t feel anything like the fear you may have for spiders, dogs, or enclosed spaces but the effect of not facing and conquering these fears is far greater.

Fear Pic

Have you ever made excuses about going after your big goal, dream, or aspiration? Have you ever created obstacles or missed important deadlines? Have you ever had opportunities that you downgraded or dismissed but deep inside you knew they would have been beneficial to you in reaching your goals?

If you answered yes to any of those questions, you quite possibly might have a fear of either failure, or success. These fears can sabotage you in more ways than you can imagine. The fear of both success and failure are common things, they are experienced by millions of people all of the globe.

Either of these fears can derail your dreams in a heart beat, you will just never realize it until you don’t accomplish your goals. These fears might not be as paralyzing in the moment like the fear of heights but they are far more crippling than any fear you will face. Why? Well they can ruin your dreams and cause you to live a life you don’t want to live, a life that’s not in line with your purpose.

Tackle these two fears head on, challenge yourself to overcome them and breakthrough into the freedom you deserve. Break these boundaries and create a new paradigm, a creative, powerful, success orientated, and limitless paradigm. Create the paradigm you deserve. Ask yourself the questions we shared an be honest with yourself when you answer. If you are saying yes to any of them, it is time to say no! Step outside your cocoon of comfort and truly start to make a dynamic shift in your life.

Challenge Yourself Breakthrough Your limiting Beliefs

Challenge Yourself Breakthrough Your limiting Beliefs
Challenge Yourself Breakthrough Your Limiting Beliefs
It is time you entered the challenge zone! When was the last time you challenged yourself to do something better? Made the internal challenge to create or do something that scares the hell out of you? Or experienced breakthroughs that took your breath away.

To challenge yourself and create breakthroughs with your present limiting beliefs is one thing that in my opinion, you should do as often as possible. Breakthroughs come in all shapes and sizes, the key is to see them. This can prove to be a little more difficult that you might think. In today’s world, we are moving at such a high speed, you might miss many of your daily breakthroughs that can lead to higher self confidence that will intern lead to more breakthroughs.

Challenge Yourself

So challenge yourself to be aware of your daily actions and you will soon see that breakthroughs are a daily experience for you. Have you ever walked through the door and when your spouse asks you how your day went, you have this reply. “We’ll it was really busy, but it was one of those days were I felt like I got nothing accomplished.”

Yeh, we have all had those days haven’t we? What is you were to try to write down your wins everyday? Write down all the breakthroughs you have in a day! This challenge we present to you today can make a massive difference in your productivity at both work and your home. Share this with your spouse or children and tomorrow at the dinner table, share your breakthroughs with your family as they share theirs.

Limiting beliefs are only as powerful as you make them. If you are limitless so are your beliefs. This exercise is also really good for your “bad days”, when you are having a day she your moral, energy, or mood are below par. Go back though your breakthroughs and you will see your energy, moral, and mood change as you relive the memories of your breakthroughs and smile as you realize that you have take your challenge by the horns and you are conquering your limited beliefs.

Own The Adversity – Own The Breakthroughs

Own The Adversity – Own The Breakthroughs
Own The Adversity Own The Breakthroughs
Adversity is like death and taxes, it’s given! If you are breathing, you are going to face adversity. The challenge is how do we experience our life breakthroughs when face adversity?

If you want to expire nice breakthroughs like never before from any adversity you face. The first lesson is to take ownership of your adversity. You got it. Own the adversity and you will own your breakthroughs. This will entail you checking your unhealthy ego at the door. Now this could be difficult for some and understandably so. Owning your adversity is to the easiest thing to do. Owning your breakthroughs on the other hand is an awesome feeling isn’t it?

Breakthrough Adversity

What if you can change the beliefs you have with your adversity to create the same pleasure you have when you own your breakthroughs as you do when you own your adversity? You might just have the winning formula no? I am willing to be you will my friend.

When you own your adversity and come to the realization that you in fact attracted this adversity into your life. That you and only you are responsible for this adversity. Then and only then can you truly own it and turn the beliefs you have related to this adversity around and create your breakthroughs. If you own your adversity, you will own your breakthroughs!

Check your unhealthy ego at the door. Unhealthy egos have no place in the classroom called growth. Own your adversity and you will own your breakthroughs. Unhealthy egos cause you to cast blame, anger, and attitude toward your adversity or people that might be included in your adversity and there are no breakthroughs for you in that scenario.

The responsibility is yours for the taking, go ahead take it and enjoy it! Learn something new about yourself. Own your adversity and you will own all your breakthroughs.

The Challenge That Comes With Adversity

The Challenge That Comes With Adversity
The Challenge That Comes With Adversity
When we face adversities of major magnitude, our ability to control our beliefs about the adversity can help in your challenge. Our beliefs are the guiding factors in all adversities.

What would you say if we suggested that every adversity you have faced to date every challenge you have experienced, you manifested in your life? If you are like most, the first reply is “NO I haven’t.” Well in fact you have.

Napoleon Hill said “With every adversity is planted the seed of an equal or greater benefit.” Now he came to this conclusion after over 20 years of researching the most successful people of his time. The likes of Edison, Ford, and Wrigley. Which makes it just a little hard to try to deny his findings doesn’t it?

Josh HInds It's Your Life LIVE BIG Book Cover

Well here is where the internal challenge lies. How do we see the gold nugget inside every adversity? This is definitely a tough thing to do, but, there is hope. Here are a few suggestions you can use to start to see the seed, that beautiful gold nugget inside your adversity.

 1. Stop: Step out of the present situation. You need to get out of the heat of the moment.
 2. Ask yourself some possibility questions. These are questions that enable you to think. I mean critically think about how you can overcome your adversity, not be stopped by it.
 3. Take ownership of your challenge. Taking ownership is a key to climbing this seemingly insurmountable wall.

These three suggestions can turn any challenge into unlimited possibilities for growth.
